Our practice comprises an experienced and dedicated team headed by Shane Hussey.
Shane Hussey
Director and Principal
Shane is the director and principal of Hussey & Co, which he established in 1997. For more than 30 years, the majority of his professional time has been spent providing specialist accounting and financial advice, particularly in relation to business valuations, economic loss and damages, forensic accounting, financial investigations, relationship property and other commercial disputes.
During that time, Shane has undertaken approximately 800 specialist assignments and has given expert evidence in more than 150 cases. He is regularly engaged to provide independent expert opinions and has been appointed by the High Court and professional bodies to undertake investigations, valuations and binding expert determinations.
Shane also acts as a mediator and arbitrator and has extensive experience of the mediation process, both as a mediator and as an expert assisting parties. He has undertaken advanced mediation training at Harvard Law School and through the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ), of which he is an Associate member.
Shane has been a Chartered Accountant since 1989 and has held a public practice certificate since establishing Hussey & Co in 1997.
Shane is regularly invited to present at conferences and seminars on expert evidence, valuation, financial and accounting matters, and dispute resolution. Recent speaking engagements include:

– Presented a webinar for The Law Association of New Zealand on potential accounting pitfalls in the sale of a business.
– Spoke at the Expert Intensive Skills course hosted by AMINZ on the role of the advocate and the advocate/expert relationship.

– Spoke as part of a panel at Arbitration Day, hosted by AMINZ, providing insights into the arbitration process from the perspective of an expert witness.

– Presented a seminar for The Law Association of New Zealand (formerly the Auckland District Law Society) on understanding accounting for lawyers.

Rod White
Associate
Rod is an Associate and a member of our specialist team. He has extensive experience in financial and economic analysis and provides expert financial advice for dispute resolution and litigation, including loss assessments, business valuations, financial investigations and general commercial matters.
Rod gained a degree with First Class Honours, majoring in Economics and Finance, and held a number of financial and economic analytical roles before joining Hussey & Co in 2003.
Sian Heppleston
Analyst
Sian is an Analyst and a member of our specialist team. She has extensive investigative and analytical experience, including more than ten years in the Investigations unit at Inland Revenue and subsequent experience providing specialist financial and accounting advice. Sian holds a Commerce degree majoring in Accounting and Information Management and joined Hussey & Co in early 2019.
Paul O’Sullivan
Analyst
Paul is an Analyst and a member of our specialist team. He brings more than 40 years of senior financial management experience gained in New Zealand and Australia, including as Chief Financial Officer Oceania for a global multinational listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Paul holds a Master of Arts (Hons) and joined Hussey & Co in 2021.
Pearl Nicholson
Junior Analyst
Pearl joined Hussey & Co in July 2025 and is a Junior Analyst in our specialist team. She is currently in her third year of a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Laws conjoint degree at the University of Auckland, majoring in Finance and Accounting.
Jane Eagles
Senior Accountant
Jane is a Senior Accountant with more than 30 years’ chartered accounting experience. She has extensive experience providing accounting and taxation services to small and medium-sized businesses and joined Hussey & Co in 2016.
Elanor Schroder
Administration Manager
Elanor is our Administration Manager and has extensive administration and operational experience gained over more than 20 years in the financial services and insurance industries. She is responsible for the firm’s day-to-day administration and provides support across both our accounting and specialist teams, as well as working closely with Shane. Elanor joined Hussey & Co in 2018.
